Opera, the Norwegian company known for its long-standing web browser, has launched a new digital tool aimed at promoting mental well-being in the workplace. The new product, Opera Air, debuted earlier this month for MacOS and Windows platforms, offering a suite of mindfulness features integrated directly into the browsing experience.

Opera Air features a floating sidebar that gives users quick access to stress-relief tools such as guided meditations, deep breathing exercises, full body scans, and neck stretches. Additionally, the browser includes a selection of “boosts” — binaural beats designed to improve focus and relaxation.

Binaural beats are described by Psychology Today as auditory illusions produced when two slightly different frequencies are played in each ear, creating a perceived third tone. Opera Air offers approximately 20 of these tracks, with popular options like “Creativity Boost (Theta 6 Hz),” “Energized Focus (Alpha 12 Hz),” and “Deep Relaxation (Theta 5 Hz),” each typically lasting 30 minutes or more.

Users can also take guided movement or breathing breaks, ranging from four to ten minutes, with voice-guided instructions and optional webcam-assisted motion tracking. These breaks are intended to provide pain relief, tension release, or mental unwinding throughout the workday.

While some users have noted technical issues, such as laptops overheating during use, the browser has received positive feedback for its impact on productivity and stress management.
